Poetry

Warrior Queens

You see us coming, swiftly and with justice, righteous is our cause,
We take up to protect and to enforce the old and correct laws
For our children, for ourselves we must remain without fears
Only in the shadows of our bedrooms may we ever shed our tears
Because for those of you strong black kings that do and will remain
There are far too many of you gone, leaving our lives not the same
But we carry on and tuck away our pain and sorrows
We cant afford to forget about our tomorrows
We have to build for the future of our seeds
Because we are Warrior Queens indeed

Wondering

i'm wondering is it you
what's a sistah to do
wrapped all up in words so fine
got me chillin on your body wine
do i love you more today
will you be here like yesterday
what do i mean or want to say
when in your eyes i see your play
then tonight you talk me slow
touch me soft and don't let go
got me wanting, burning low
my senses in overdrive
feeling all alive
still wondering
does he love me
will i be
everything
or nothing
as tomorrow comes and i leave you stand or walk away
we embrace this way always got me wondering

My friend, my confidante, my warrior King

When the world seems against me, your smile I see
When I'm tired, stressed and lonely, your vibe chills me
In the wanting and the waiting for life's degrees and ways
It's in your eyes far from mine, that I can see brighter days

So when you lay your head down at night
You have no awareness of just how very right
You have made my troubles to be ignored
And made my heart sing and my spirit soar

You are my friend of that I am so sure
Our love abiding and will endure
These distances not far but near
Cause it's your heart I always hear....

Love Blossoming

By Roxann "Kujitua Baraka" Latimer

In the small of this evening hour I sense you still
So far away yet near enough for my heart to feel
You say your love for me is deepening every day
But the words "i love you" are just too soon to say
I think of you often, and your words do stir me
And with you I am longing to be
And while we wait this year out
Learning what we're both about
You in africa, the motherland
Me in america, learning to understand
This love blossoming
